Accessories High on Agenda for PDA Owners
Pocket PCs have long been the must-have accessories of geeks worldwide, but now mobile computing enthusiasts are no longer settling for only the device itself.
A recent survey by SPB Software House has revealed that over 94% of Pocket PC owners have purchased some type of accessory for their mobile computing device, an increase of 1% on last year's results.
"PDAs are about geek-chic and being seen with the right gear," says Rob Wood, owner of http://pda-assistant.info - a PDA accessories website. "Making sure you've got the right bells and whistles for your PDA as well as getting the most possible functionality out of it is a big thing for a lot of owners."
According to the survey, the majority of users who had purchased peripheries for their device had invested in extra memory (85%), with screen protectors (69%) and cases (64%) also being very popular amongst consumers.
"Keeping your PDA in the best possible condition is a given," said Mr Wood. "PDAs aren't cheap and you want them to last for as long as you can, but for a lot of people, looking cool is also pretty important."
While 85% of survey respondents said they use their device for organization there were also a few surprising user statistics. The survey revealed that connecting to the internet (70%) and playing games (65%) were very high on the agenda of many pocket PC owners. 69% of respondents also admitted to using their machines for listening to music.
"These type of surveys show that people aren't just looking for a glorified diary anymore," said Mr Wood.
